Not only do Republicans ignore the rising threat of climate change – they are also going as far as punishing companies that seek to address the climate crisis. Here’s an eye-opening headline from the New York Times :

According to the report, West Virginia's state treasurer divested from BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, for simply recognizing climate change as an economic risk.

And in Texas, a new law bars the state’s retirement and investment funds from doing business with companies that even hint at boycotting fossil fuels.

But it doesn’t stop there. Similar efforts at punishing companies for considering environmental risks are playing out in Utah and Idaho.

The GOP and their allies are running campaigns, on taxpayer dollars, to pressure businesses to move away from reducing greenhouse gasses – even though there is clear evidence that climate change can pose an economic threat. Republicans across the nation are showing they don’t care about combating this rising threat and are moving toward punishing corporations that do.
