I only have about 10 free minutes this evening, folks. I want to take this time to share what I’ve been up to lately — and how your grassroots support makes it all possible. First, I want to address an issue that is on so many of our minds. It’s important that you know I’m working every day to move forward common-sense, bipartisan gun reform legislation in the Senate. We can protect innocent lives and constitutional rights at the same time — and I’m optimistic that we can get it done soon. We’ve also seen our collective activism toward a clean-energy future pay off. I’ve recently led efforts to stop the threat of solar tariffs and boost the solar industry to save and create jobs in New Mexico and across the country. President Biden responded — announcing that he’s suspending solar tariffs for two years and taking steps to strengthen U.S. solar manufacturing. This is a critical step to building an American-made, clean-energy future and addressing the climate crisis with the urgency it deserves. On the campaign side, we made incredible gains in the New Mexico primary elections last Tuesday — seeing strong Democratic leaders like red-to-blue congressional candidate Gabe Vasquez, Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver, and a slate of local candidates move on to their general elections. Electing Democrats at every single level of government is critical to our people-first agenda — from fighting for federal legislation to expand early childhood education in New Mexico, to protecting abortion rights, to investing in clean energy, to preserving our lands and planet for future generations.
