Tonight, the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol begins a series of eight public hearings.

The committee has spent a year collecting evidence, interviewing more than 800 witnesses, and putting the pieces together to figure out who planned the brutal assault that killed five and wounded 140 police officers, as well as the role played by Donald Trump and members of Congress.

Rep. Jamie Raskin, one of the committee members, has said that the evidence they've uncovered will "blow the roof off the House." But for this committee to really have an impact, we need to make sure everyday Americans hear and understand what has been uncovered.

John, we can't let this be like the Mueller report, which included more than enough evidence to impeach Trump but was so long, meandering, and inconclusive that most Americans who don't obsessively follow politics simply tuned out.

We cannot let America tune out.
