Dear John,
This past September, the Senate passed S. 178 - the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2019. Now, the House is raising the issue on their floor and it's up to ALL OF US to contact our members and urge them to pass this important bill.
The Chinese government has launched a relentless campaign against the Uyghurs in the Xinjiang Province. Over one million Uyghurs have been detained in what Chinese officials are calling “re-education centers” but which are - in reality - internment camps. The government has forcibly cut off men’s beard, banned the hijab, forced Muslims to drink alcohol and consume pork, and banned certain Muslim names for babies. Often times, Muslims are told to criticize themselves and their faith.
The United States must speak out against these gross human rights abuses. Here is how YOU can help using our tools, just click on the link!
- CALL your member of Congress and tell them you are concerned about the continued abuses the Uyghur minority in China are subjected to and to support and vote YES for H.R. 649 - The Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2019
- WRITE an email to your Representative and tell them to support H.R. 649
- TWEET at your official and help spread awareness on social media
Take action today and help support our efforts to bring an end to the atrocities against the Uyghur population. Your contributions will help us continue this vital work.
