Folks,
I’d like to take a moment to talk about how I came to be running for governor of Arkansas — and the future I see for this great state of ours.
It starts in Pine Bluff.
That’s where I grew up as the kid of two ordained ministers, who raised me to believe that with faith, hope, and hard work, there was nothing we couldn’t accomplish.
And that’s where I started hearing the stories of the family who’d come before me.
You see, I’m a seventh-generation Arkansan. My ancestors labored in the soil. They faced discrimination that seeped its way in — from the laws our government passed, and the streets where people could live, to the dreams that kids could dream.

By the 1940s, my Pawpaw Jesse Torrence, with his third-grade education, was driving a truck he couldn’t afford to own. But by the 1980s, he was helping me set up my own business — his legacy was entrepreneurship and hard work.
My family made it possible for me to pursue my interest in science, which led to the incredible experience of working for NASA. I was also able to get a Ph.D. in urban planning from MIT — learning how to dismantle the unjust systems that have led to segregated communities and diminished opportunities.
But I knew that I wanted to come home to Arkansas and give my skills to the state I love.
When I ran the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub, I was blessed with the chance to work all across our great state and meet Arkansans from every walk of life. But I couldn’t ignore the yawning opportunity gaps that were preventing kids just like me from pursuing their dreams.
And lately, I’ve seen those disparities getting worse, not better. Today, too many Arkansans feel left behind by the people making the big decisions in Little Rock.
I’m running for governor to change that.
Together, we can build a state where everyone can thrive. I have faith in Arkansas’ potential, and I know that with dedication and compassion, we can bring opportunity to every corner of the state, from Pine Bluff to Paragould.
But if our opponent, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, wins this election instead, she’ll govern from the same, tired playbook of division while doing nothing to improve the lives of our people.
That’s why I’m asking you this today: Will you chip in $20 or whatever you can to power our grassroots campaign to victory and write a new chapter of Arkansas’ history? Let’s win this thing together. [[link removed]]

Chris Jones
