** There is still hope for homeless services...

Thank you for all the work you've done over the last 3 weeks. Through all of our calls and emails the Legislature heard that Alaskans take care of one another, that homeless services protect the vulnerable, and that homeless services are cost effective for the State.
Let's make sure they keep hearing this message. There are multiple bills (HB 2001 and SB 2002) in the Legislature that restore funding for homeless services, creating a brighter future for homeless services.
If funding to homeless services is not restored by the Legislature, ACEH projects Anchorage will experience the following impacts:
* 790 more people will experience unsheltered homelessness - living in camps, cars, and other places not meant for human habitation.
* Shelters serving women and children will close during the day - leaving kids with fewer safe spaces during daytime and creating barriers for women to enter the workforce
* People will experience homelessness for longer periods of time. Funding cuts remove the ladder to exit homelessness including day services, rapid rehousing and diversion funding.
* Less emergency shelter, day services, and rapid rehousing programs means more ER visits, police and fire calls
