Yet Israel prevailed. And after 19 years of Jordanian control of eastern Jerusalem, when Jews were prohibited from praying at their holiest sites, the city was finally reunited.
This month marks 55 years since Israel reunified Jerusalem. From that moment on, the city has remained open to people of all faiths—a unique demonstration of tolerance in the region.
Yet today, Israel remains under constant danger of new terrorist threats from determined enemies who refuse to accept that the Jewish state has a right to exist.
In recent weeks alone, 19 Israelis have been killed in multiple shooting, stabbing and car ramming attacks…which Hamas has praised as “heroic operations” and called for more such attacks.
Our responsibility is to ensure America stands by Israel and the Jewish state has the resources and support it needs to defend itself, by itself — today and forever.
