NEWS FROM POWER TO DECIDE
We Are Powerful: Support Our Contraceptive Access Fund
No matter our differences, most of us want similar things: to care for our loved ones, care for ourselves, and make our own decisions about if, when, and under what circumstances to get pregnant and have a child. In fact, 78% of adults agree that birth control is a basic part of health care. But today in the US, more than 19.5 million women in need live in contraceptive deserts, or counties in which there isn’t reasonable access to the full range of contraceptive methods.
Give the gift of access to someone in need. BCBenefits, our contraceptive access fund, helps women in need get the birth control they need and deserve by supporting their contraceptive costs not covered by insurance, as well as travel costs associated with accessing birth control. We want all women to be able to travel safely and worry-free to and from appointments to get the birth control that’s right for them. Donate now, and consider becoming a monthly donor to strengthen your impact. Just $5 a month gives birth control pills to a person living at or below 250% of the poverty level for an entire year.
Thanks, Birth Control Success
Last week we celebrated all things contraception and took over social media shouting, “Thanks, birth control!” From Teen Vogue and Senator Clinton to Freeform and Dr. Drew to thousands of others across the country, we told the world why birth control matters and all that it’s made possible in our lives. Read just 21 of the reasons why people thanked their birth control method in this wrap up.
Thanks, Birth Control wouldn’t have been such a success without our funders who helped make it possible! Special thanks to the JPB Foundation, HeyDoctor, Nurx, SimpleHealth, PRJKTRuby, Natural Cycles, Medicines360, and the Female Health Company. Your generous support helps us work towards everyone having access to the information and services they need to decide if, when, and under what circumstances to get pregnant and have a child.
Make Sure that the 2020 Open Enrollment is a Success
For those of you that are providers or work in a clinical setting, remember to remind those you serve that they still have a few more days to obtain health coverage. Open Enrollment for the ACA runs through December 15, and if you need to refer anyone, Power to Decide has the resources for you to help someone to select a plan that better fits their needs. ACA provides all women with no-copay birth control and as we all know contraception is basic health care.
