We need common-sense gun safety laws in this country now.
No parent should ever experience the terror and powerlessness that comes with knowing your child is potentially in an active shooter situation.
I've been through it — and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
Here's the thing: we can change this pattern.
With universal background checks, red flag laws, a ban on assault weapons, and an end to the gun show loophole, we can fight back against the epidemic of gun violence rocking our country.
Last week, the House passed a gun reform bill with a lot of these measures. It's currently stalled out in the Senate, but that doesn't mean this fight is over.
