We just wanted to make sure you saw Pramila’s message from the other day.
The first of several public hearings from the House Select Committee to investigate the January 6th attack on the Capitol began on Thursday — what we revisited and learned was painful. It was especially painful for Pramila and several of her colleagues, who remained trapped in the House gallery as the insurrectionists closed in on the floor.
In the coming weeks, more damning details will be revealed. But we cannot ignore the fact that right now, 57 insurrectionists are running for elected office in 2022. Our democracy is still very much at stake — we must join shoulder to shoulder with Pramila to protect it.
Republicans are already hard at work downplaying the details revealed during the first hearing and we can’t let them get away with it. Can you contribute $3 or any amount today to fuel Pramila’s fight for accountability, our democracy AND our Democratic majority? Every dollar donated truly makes a difference.

Subject: We cannot forget the horror of that day, fueled by the Big Lie
Today, the January 6 Committee begins hearings to hold all those responsible for the Capitol insurrection accountable. We must do this for our democracy — everything is on the line.
The Committee’s work is critical — we need to ensure people know how close we came to losing our democracy. This is about accountability. This is about making sure the perpetrators of the insurrection are punished. It’s about making sure this never happens again.
When the House Floor was cleared on January 6th, about 30 of us were left behind, trapped in the gallery as the insurrectionists invaded. I remember fearing for my life as they pounded on the doors, only a few feet from where I hid under the seats. I was trapped and prepared to fight back using a cane and a gas mask. I am grateful that I reached safety later that day, but our democracy is far from safe.
Donald Trump and his Republican allies, like Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley, peddled dangerous misinformation about our elections. We cannot forget the horror of that day, fueled by the Big Lie.
And today, the GOP continues to attack our democracy with lies about our elections. They spread misinformation as they attempt — and in some states succeed — at restricting voting rights, making it harder for people to cast a ballot.
We must hold those responsible for January 6 accountable and we must protect our democracy. That’s why I’m redoubling my efforts to protect our House Democratic majority in this crucial midterm election year.
In solidarity,
Pramila
