Rep. Calvert Announces 2022 Service Academy Appointments

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-42) announced and congratulated the 2022 Service Academy Appointments from the 42nd Congressional District. As a Member of Congress, Rep. Calvert has the privilege of nominating a select group of highly qualified young men and women for admission to the United States Service Academies – Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard.

“I’m incredibly proud to nominate and see these students appointed to our extraordinary service academies,” said Rep. Calvert. “These are among the finest students and young adults in our region, and they have a tremendous future ahead of them. I also want to congratulate and thank their family, friends, teachers, and everyone who helped them achieve this tremendous honor. Their decision to serve our nation is to be commended.”

The following is a list of the candidates nominated by Rep. Calvert who have also received and accepted an Offer of Appointment to our nation's service academies, and will be part of the Class of 2026 entering in June 2022:

Naval Academy:

  • Danielle Bocanegra, Murrieta Mesa High School (Class of 2021), currently attending Northwestern Preparatory School
  • Diego Hernandez, Great Oak High School
  • Cyrus Mahir, Murrieta Valley High School
  • Ryan Shubert, Paloma Valley High School

Air Force Academy:

  • Jordan Martinez, Eleanor Roosevelt High School

West Point Academy:

  • Hunter Rody, Chaparral High School
  • John Thomas, Centennial High School
  • Brandon Edwards, Calvary Murrieta Christian School (Class of 2018), active duty in the United States Army, currently attending West Point Preparatory School

Coast Guard Academy:

  • Haley Olson, Vista Murrieta High School


Each appointee to the Armed Service Academies will receive an education valued in excess of $400,000. Rep. Calvert's appointments to the Armed Service Academies are awarded on a strictly competitive basis through a Congressional Nominations Selection Committee. The Committee evaluates each candidate and makes recommendations.
