Hi John,
Abortion rights in Slovakia are under threat and we urgently need your help.
Tomorrow, Slovak MPs will debate a bill that will force women to see an ultrasound and listen to the ‘foetal heartbeat’ before being allowed to terminate a pregnancy.
There are no medical reasons for these requirements. Not only would they undermine women’s privacy, but will subject women to extreme humiliation and degrading treatment.
We can’t let this happen. Will you email leaders of Slovak parliament asking them to reject the bill?

If passed, Slovakia will have one of the strictest abortion laws in the EU, setting a dangerous precedent for other European countries.
Earlier this year, the UN noted that women in Slovakia already face multiple barriers to accessing safe abortion and contraception; and warned that this new bill would further worsen the situation.
Please will you email Slovak authorities and let them know that the world is watching?
