I was in the House gallery on January 6th, 2021, when a mob of right-wing domestic terrorists stormed the United States Capitol in a Donald Trump-inspired attempt to overturn the results of our free and fair election. I crouched below the balcony walls alongside Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) as we hid from the rioters; I made what I thought could be my final call to my children.
Last night, the committee investigating January 6 held its first public hearing, revealing substantial evidence that former President Trump and his allies engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud the American public, and that Trump violated multiple laws in his attempt to overturn the results of the presidential election.
I believe it is up to us, the American people, to ensure the events of January 6th are not forgotten and never repeated.
I will never stop fighting to defend the integrity of our democracy. With Republicans pulling out all the stops to get me out of Congress this November and replace me with a rubber stamp for their far-right agenda, we need all hands on deck. Will you chip in today to keep me in Congress and protect the future of our country?
