Well, John not gonna lie, it’s been another tough month.
It really feels like there’s just one bad thing after another happening in the world. TBH, I’m super tired. And I’m mad. Our bodies are literally on the line. We shouldn’t have to fight for the right to have an abortion. We shouldn’t have to protect students from sexual harassment. We shouldn’t have to fight for gun control, with every week bringing a new round of mourning more mass shootings. These should all be a given. Instead of talking about mental illness, sending thoughts and prayers, and making empty promises, our politicians should be passing legislation that helps people. You know the Law Center won’t stop fighting, but oof, let’s just acknowledge how we’ve all been through it lately.
When we have days like these, I try to remind myself it’s okay to be all in my feelings. It’s okay to take a break from doom scrolling. As my therapist tells me, the news will still be there tomorrow. So, take a deep breath, hydrate, and let’s get to it.

Happy Pride, everyone! While we’ll be celebrating all month, let’s remember that Pride wasn’t always rainbows, parades, and parties. Pride was built on resistance against police harassment with the Stonewall Uprising in 1969. It’s absolutely a time to celebrate, but we can’t lose sight of all the work yet to be done.
Here's some things to do this month:
Title IX Turns 50
Happy 50th anniversary, Title IX! This historic piece of civil rights legislation has positively impacted the lives of millions of people by carving a pathway to achieve gender equity and equality in education. And while Title IX has helped so many students, opponents, including the Trump administration, have weakened crucial civil rights protections, including undoing critical safeguards against harassment. We are pushing decision makers at every level to strengthen Title IX protections to protect students.
Here's what you can do:
- In partnership with the Women’s Sports Foundation and the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative, the National Women’s Law Center has launched Demand IX—a pledge to strengthen Title IX protections and enforcement. Take the Pledge.
- Read our report, Title IX at 50, written in partnership with the National Coalition for Women and Girls in Education, which celebrates the significant progress made toward ending sex discrimination in schools while recognizing that much work remains to be done.

Support Abortion Access. Always.
The SCOTUS decision could come any day now. No matter what happens, we will continue to fight for abortion. Always. We are putting those in power on notice that WE have power and we demand access to abortion, no matter where we live – and we need YOUR help. My Moment of Joy
This month, I finally repotted some plants. I’m not a big plant person, but there’s something very cool about seeing things you’ve planted grow. I also impulsively bought a fiddle leave fig at our local Ace Hardware. I just could not say no to such a good deal. I don’t normally condone retail therapy, BUT it is nice to sit next to a tree while I work away in my home office setup.
Speaking of plants, my roommate’s cat Mike has really been feeling himself as a plant model these days. To end another newsletter, here’s some advice from Mike the cat: remember to be confident and do what makes you happy.
