Dear John,

Young people deserve to go to school and live their lives without fear of gun violence, but that is not their reality. Young people, especially since the shooting in Parkland, Florida, have grown to believe that if they are to live without gun violence, they will have to be the generation to finally end it.

We have no doubt about the difference they can make. These young people are inspiring and bright and deeply determined.

But, this burden should not be theirs. We are the adults. At the very least, we need to support them and lift their voices and make sure they know that we will stand shoulder to shoulder with them now...and in the future.
