Tomorrow, June 11th, from 10AM-2PM, we're hosting a special passport day to help you and your family apply for your passport. If you are a first-time applicant or need a renewal, we can help!
Before you make any travel plans, please remember to check the expiration date! It is a little-known fact that some countries won’t allow entry if the visitor’s passport expires in six months or less. This means that your passport may expire months before you think it does. Please check your family’s passports, and if any will expire in less than a year, begin the renewal process now.
The District Clerk's office will supply applications and take passport photos. My office will be providing Privacy Authorization Forms for constituents who need to expedite their application and will be happy to answer any questions.
Please click here for more information on passport applications.

This week, I voted against H.R. 7910 and H.R. 2377, the Democrats' unconstitutional gun control bills. This was yet another attempt by Democrats to strip Americans of their Second Amendment rights. Once again, in the wake of tragedy, Democrats are hell-bent on advancing their radical gun control agenda. Instead, we need to prioritize school safety through resource officers and mental health counselors, close loopholes in security, and ensure emergency preparedness. Let’s not make it harder for Americans to keep themselves and their families safe. The right to keep and bear arms is a cornerstone of American freedom.
Our district knows too well that evil people do evil things, but you don’t restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves from evil people who do evil things. That is why I've introduced three bills to protect our children in schools.
The Protect Our Children's Schools Act would allow the Secretary of Education to reprogram unspent COVID-19 funds designated for schools and localities to reprogram those funds to make our schools safer against attacks. This money would be used to strengthen and enhance security systems already in place at schools. It would also allow for the funds to be spent on creating and implementing school safety programs to ensure our educators and administrative staff are better equipped to deal with active shooter scenarios.
The School Resource Officer Compensation Act would afford our schoolchildren the benefit of trained law enforcement personnel, by reducing the costs to schools and school districts for hiring retired law enforcement officers as School Resource Officers (SROs), by exempting employers from having to pay the matching social security contributions, while also shielding SROs from higher tax brackets.
The Protect Against School Shootings (PASS) Act would amend the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990. This bill would allow qualified law enforcement officers, retired law officers, and those permitted by State law to carry a firearm in an otherwise "gun free" school zone.

This week, I joined my colleague across the aisle, Ted Lieu (D-CA), to introduce the Correctional Facility Disaster Preparedness Act. This bill would protect the health and safety of incarcerated individuals, correctional staff, and other personnel employees during a presidential disaster declaration.
Living on the Gulf Coast of Texas, our District is no stranger to hurricanes and other weather disasters that greatly impact our community. The Correctional Facility Disaster Preparedness Act will ensure our prisons are prepared to quickly respond to natural disasters. I am glad to be part of this solution that will assist FCC Beaumont and other facilities across our nation.
The Correctional Facility Disaster Preparedness Act would: - Strengthen oversight by requiring the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to provide an annual damage assessment report to Congress after a presidential disaster declaration and its effects on Federal inmates’ health and safety, as well as corrective actions to resolve preparedness gaps.
- Expand the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) Advisory Board membership by permanently appointing three new members: (1) a formerly incarcerated individual, (2) an emergency coordinator, and (3) a public health expert with an educational and professional background working with communicable diseases to evaluate emergency preparedness and correctional policies.
- Require the NIC Advisory Board to publicly examine how correctional facilities can better incorporate considerations for incarcerated individuals in their emergency preparedness plans and recovery efforts.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a key inflation index, hit its highest rate in OVER 40-years high in May. The CPI increased 8.6% over the past 12 months, its highest rate since December 1981. MAKE NO MISTAKE: Inflation is a tax on ALL Americans, and it has steadily increased over the span of Joe Biden’s failed presidency. As inflation has continued to skyrocket, wages have actually DECREASED. BIDEN’S ECONOMIC CRISIS BY THE NUMBERS: - Inflation is a tax on ALL Americans.
- In May, the CPI increased 8.6% for the 12 months ending May, the largest 12-month increase since the period ending December 1981.
- Wages are not keeping up with inflation, and have actually DECREASED, while prices for goods have risen.
- Real wages are down nearly 4% from the beginning of the Biden Administration.
- Real average hourly earnings decreased 3.0%, seasonally adjusted, from May 2021 to May 2022.
- Under Biden, real wages have decreased under Biden 10 out of the last 12 months.
- Americans are paying more for just about everything because of inflation:
Most Americans expect inflation to get worse in the next year and are adjusting their spending habits in response to rising prices.

Friends,
The price for a gallon of gas hit an all-time high for the eleventh consecutive day on Friday. Now, economists are projecting that the average national retail price for a gallon of regular gasoline will surpass $6 a gallon by August.
Gas prices have officially DOUBLED since Joe Biden took office. The national average for a gallon of gas has risen every single day for over two weeks—up 25 cents in just the last week, and up a shocking 59 cents in the last month. Ten states now have average prices at or above $5 a gallon. Americans are suffering this historic pain at the pump as President Biden continues to beg Saudi Arabia to boost the global supply of oil, stifles America’s domestic energy production by halting new lease sales, and depletes our Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Sadly, this is Joe Biden’s America.
WHAT BIDEN SHOULD BE DOING: - End the federal freeze on oil and gas leases.
- Fast-track pending LNG export permits.
- Expedite approval of all pipeline and energy development.
- Stop the regulatory assault on U.S. energy development and financing.
