Before the weekend, I wanted to quickly re-introduce the George Washington Initiative.

Like all of you, the past couple of years has left me in awe of the amount of dis- and misinformation (DisMis) that has been normalized and promptly legitimized by prominent members of Congress. There is no doubt in my mind that we are fighting on an information battleground. The battle for truth poses a grave threat to our democracy.

If we want to see our democracy thrive, we need to act swiftly and effectively to eliminate the threat DisMis poses. This is our mission. The George Washington Initiative is the nation’s first information civil defense force and we intend to degrade and combat DisMis.

George Washington once wrote, “The great mass of our Citizens require only to understand matters rightly, to form right decisions.” This is the message behind our organization. But, in order for us to succeed, we need your support. Will you please invest $10 in our work today?

At GWI, we are developing and training an online community to take offensive action against DisMis. As a former Commander in the US Navy specializing in electronic warfare, I recognize the precarity of the situation we face.
