Podcast: Will Women Die if Roe Is Abolished?

How should Christians respond to Pride month? Your hosts answer this question, as well as explain the continued attacks on pro-life groups across our nation, and unpack the latest trend in the abortion movement: alienating women from this issue. Finally, Grace and Moses give a pro-life response to one of the most common pro-abortion talking points that “women will die from back alley abortions” if Roe is overturned. Tune in this week so you can get the facts and stand up for women and children!

Even in the Face of Threats, We Will Not Back Down

By Luke Mueller

For many pro-life advocates, the excitement of the potential overturn of Roe v. Wade has been tempered somewhat by the news of vandalism and arson at our sister organizations across the country. Over the last month, three separate pro-life organizations have become the target of abortion activists’ rage. While these acts of violence should cause us to take reasonable precautions, we will never back down from this fight. We must be prepared to deal with fear, strife, anger, and destruction. But God is for us and in him we have unrelenting hope that allows us to face down our fears. Evil may prowl on this earth looking for prey, but we have God’s assurance that He will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6).

When the news of the draft decision of Roe v. Wade broke, we saw pro-abortion activists take to the streets in protest. They marched through our cities, climbed skyscrapers, and claimed that abortion is a human right. But much of the violence came after dark. In a night that some referred to as the “Kristallnacht” of the abortion debate, Wisconsin Family Action saw its office burned and vandalized. “If abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either” was the slogan spray-painted on the walls. Sadly, this was not the end. Two more incidents of vandalism occurred in both North Carolina and Buffalo, NY with similar slogans. A radical pro-abortion group known as Jane’s Revenge has taken responsibility at least two of the attacks.

While these acts may instill fear in some, we should never let this fear drive us from our mission. We should heed the example of Wisconsin Family Action President Julaine Appling, who defiantly stated “We will repair our offices, remain on the job, and build an even stronger grassroots effort. We will not back down. We will not stop doing what we are doing. Too much is at stake.” Indeed, our work is too important to give up amidst these threats.

It Turns Out Transgender Ideology Is Pretty Unpopular

By Patience Griswold, LEAD Program Director

A study released earlier this year 43% of adults between the ages of 20 and 65 say that children and teens with gender dysphoria should not be subjected to puberty-blockers, cross-sex hormones, and so-called “sex reassignment” surgery. However, a more recent study asked a slightly different question. This study asked if people believed that transgenderism is a healthy condition and whether they were willing to say so publicly. 64% said that it was not a healthy condition, but only 30% were willing to say so publicly. 78% were opposed to children being encouraged to undergo gender transition. Similarly, 63% of American adults were opposed to redefining sex to include “gender identity.”

The majority of children who struggle with gender dysphoria become comfortable with their bodies by the time they reach adulthood if they do not undergo social or medical “transition.” “Transitioning” a child signs him up for a lifetime of invasive medical interventions that come with serious, lifelong consequences.

Because God’s Word accurately describes his world, we know that the biblical view of gender and sexuality is the truth and that our bodies follow that design. This means that what God has to say about sexuality and our bodies is true not just for believers but for everyone, and that the transgender movement’s insistence that a person can be “born in the wrong body” or that mutilating surgeries and hormone “treatments” will help people become their “true selves” is always harmful.

As Christians, we are called to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly before God. When it comes to the issue of sexuality and gender identity this includes seeking justice by refusing to allow harmful experimentation on children, loving mercy by showing genuine compassion for those who are struggling with gender dysphoria, and humbly submitting to God’s created design for our bodies.

Sign Your Teen Up for Our Leadership Camp (July 24-29)

A few years ago, a LEAD student told us this at the end of his week at camp:

“I learned that in order to be a good citizen you must first understand your worldview and know that God is the ultimate authority.” – Ben

Good citizens understand the purpose and source of authority and engage with cultural and political issues in a manner that advances truth and serves the best interest of their communities. In other words, they recognize that there is no sacred-secular divide! Our goal at LEAD is to equip students to be citizens and leaders who follow Christ wholeheartedly and boldly stand for truth in their communities. Registration for LEAD 2022 is still open! We hope to see your teen from July 24-29th at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul!

Who: Highschool students ages 13–19
What: A hands-on leadership and worldview camp which equips the next generation of Christian leaders to engage the culture.
When: July 24-29, 2022

Dobbs Decision Day Rally! (Date TBA)

From Pro-Life Action Ministries. Minnesota Family Council is also joining the Decision Day rally.

This is an urgent “heads up” message about a very important pro-life event coming soon.

As you’ve probably heard, on May 2 the news website Politico published a leaked draft copy of the Supreme Court’s majority opinion on the historic Dobbs v. Jackson case, in which the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision is overturned! We’re still waiting for the official ruling to be released, which may not be until July 1.

But we need to come out in great numbers that on that day, at a Decision Day Rally, to mark this pro-life victory and dedicate ourselves to building a new pro-life future in Minnesota.

I can think of no better place in Minnesota to hold this rally than at the Warren E. Burger Federal Building and Courthouse, named for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court who brought us Roe v. Wade in 1973.

It is so important for us to get out there on the day the ruling comes down! We need to show the media right here in Minnesota that America is ready to see the end of Roe and a new hopeful future for mothers and their unborn children.

Here are all the details about our Dobbs Decision Day RallyCelebrate the end of Roe v. Wade!

WHERE: Warren E. Burger Federal Building and Courthouse Plaza, 316 Robert Street N St. Paul, MN 55101

WHEN: At 5:00 pm on the day the Supreme Court releases their Dobbs ruling

DETAILS: Parking in ramps in the downtown St. Paul area.  Good to carpool for this event.

Meanwhile, please keep a close eye on your email inbox — especially once we get into the month of June, when the ruling is likely to come.

Just think: if the Supreme Court does go through with overturning Roe v. Wade, the date that happens will become a new pro-life anniversary — the opposite of January 22, the day Roe was handed down in 1973. We’ll mark that day every year, as we continue our pro-life work. So come out at 5:00 pm on Decision Day — whenever it comes — and be a part of history!
