Votes from Tuesday's primary are still being counted, but with over 70% now reported, I’m pleased to share that we have a sizable lead and are headed to the General Election in a strong position!

I want to start by thanking you for your incredible support. With new district boundaries and new voters to introduce myself to, we couldn’t take anything for granted. We put in the work to earn voters' trust, and it paid off in spades.

There are a few takeaways from the results that are important to note:

1. Despite 7 candidates being in the race we received roughly 50% of the vote. That's a strong showing, but the combined tally of votes for Republican candidates was nearly 50% as well. That goes to show just how tight and competitive this race will be.

2. As was the case across California, voter turnout lagged in our district. We're going to have to work as hard as we ever have to make sure our supporters understand the stakes and get their votes counted in November.

It's likely we'll be up against a self-funding extremist who has proven willing to spend whatever it takes on misleading attacks ads to take this seat. He’s also being backed by Republicans’ leading super PAC that has pledged $1.6 million on attacks against.
