Team AOC and New York City’s Democratic Socialists for America chapter are
teaming up to knock doors and phone bank voters this SUNDAY to help elect
our endorsed candidates for the New York State Assembly.

Assembly elections are less than 3 weeks away (June 28th!) so the time to
take action is now. [ [link removed] ]Will you join us for a phone bank this Sunday at
1pm ET/10am PT to call voters?

The legislative session in Albany just ended and it was abundantly clear:
we need more democratic socialist organizers in office. Right now,
corporate-backed incumbents in the NY State Assembly are blocking
guaranteed healthcare, affordable housing, and climate justice. Until we
win a progressive State Assembly, none of our priority policies will pass.

Here are the details for the phone bank – you can join virtually from
anywhere!

After gathering together on Zoom, we will divide participants into
breakout rooms for each candidate. If you prefer to phone bank for a
particular candidate, you can let us know.

From the Hudson Valley to Brooklyn, these candidates running for the
Assembly are committed to organizing the working class in their districts
and increasing our collective power in order to take decisive action on
the climate crisis, housing, and healthcare.

Here’s a bit more about some of the candidates:

* Samy Olivares, AD 54 - was raised by a single mother who relied on
public programs to make ends meet. Samy has organized to end the
school to prison pipeline and advocate for healthcare for all. Samy
would be the first genderqueer state legislator in New York.
* Vanessa Agudelo, AD 95 - is the proud daughter of Colombian immigrants
and lifelong Peekskill resident. Vanessa fought against the Spectra
fracked gas pipeline expansion. As an immigrant rights organizer, she
led the campaign to pass the first-in-the-nation Excluded Workers
Fund.
* Sarahana Shrestha, AD 103 - was nine years old when she witnessed a
historic uprising in Nepal. In the wake of the devastation, she
remembers returning to villages to see how a single public road
transformed the lives of entire communities. She continues to fight
for public infrastructure today, leading the campaign for public
renewables.

Thank you for stepping up to volunteer your time. It makes all the
difference.

Hope to see you on Sunday,
