NEW in Politico: Low turnout could mean serious trouble for those like
Rep. Katie Porter in CA-47, who is facing a tough challenge in November
(speaking of Porter, the National Republican Congressional Committee just
bought [ [link removed] ]$500,000 worth of fall airtime to support her opponent,
Republican Scott Baugh).

Here’s the deal, we know this race will be tough:

* Just over 50% of people voted for Katie in this week’s primary. The
other half voted for one of the Republican candidates. That shows us
just how close this race will be in November.
* While ballots are still being counted, it looks like voter turnout
will be well below 2018 and 2020 levels. We’ll need to work hard to
make sure people vote in the fall.
* The National Republican Campaign Committee just reserved another half
a million dollars worth of TV airtime. That’s in addition to the more
than $1.5 million already spent by a GOP super PAC.

[ [link removed] ]Our campaign doesn’t take corporate PAC or lobbyist money, so we rely
on you to help keep Katie in Congress, where she’s standing up to special
interests and fighting to lower the costs squeezing families–from gas and
groceries, to the high cost of childcare and prescription drugs.
