Team -- let’s do a quick reality check, because there’s a heck of a lot going on in our country right now.

Americans saw on primetime TV last night the first public hearings on the Jan. 6th attack -- a shocking glimpse into how close we came to losing our democracy.

The truth is, that wasn't a singular event. It was just the beginning.

We are in the midst of an ongoing and long-reaching attempt to preemptively rig the 2024 presidential election.

Look, I realize that sentence sounds like something out of a dystopian novel or conspiracy theorist message board -- but the wildest thing about it is that it’s absolutely true.

That’s why I started The American SOS Project -- to build an organization that’s 100% dedicated to stopping Donald Trump’s plot in its tracks. If you agree that we can’t stand by and let this happen, please, pitch in today to support this work:

If you need a little more evidence of the path Trump is carefully laying towards a stolen second term, I’d like to share with you a brief timeline of the increasingly alarming milestones in our democracy’s demise:

Election Night 2020: Trump claims victory (but still claims the election is a fraud).

December 19, 2020: On Twitter, Trump issues an invitation to the MAGA crowd, urging them to come to Washington on the date of the final election certification -- Jan. 6th.

January 6, 2021: Spurred on by their autocrat-in-chief, Trump supporters storm the United States Capitol and attempt to overturn the 2020 election results before Congress can certify the votes.

April 2022: During their convention, the Michigan GOP overwhelmingly votes to advance Kristina Karamo -- who claims the 2020 election was stolen and has appeared as a featured speaker at a QAnon conference -- as their nominee for secretary of state.

May 17, 2022: Doug Matriano wins the GOP primary for Pennsylvania governor after spewing lies about our democracy throughout his campaign -- and saying in a debate that he wants every PA voter to be required to re-register in order to continue voting.

June 7, 2022: Another election denier, Audrey Trujillo, advances from her unopposed primary to be the Republican nominee for secretary of state in New Mexico. Trujillo has called the 2020 election a “coup.”

And these are only a few of the terrifying milestones! The efforts to cast doubt on our elections and put Trump acolytes in positions to oversee them are happening every. single. day.

Look, this team has stepped up in an incredible way to support The American SOS Project and protect our democracy over the past few weeks. But we cannot stop now -- we have to wake up, put all these pieces together, and take very seriously the fact that the Trump attack on our democracy didn’t fail on January 6th -- it was just getting started. Unless we fight with every ounce of our beings for the next five months, our democracy could be systematically destroyed.

So please, make a donation right now to help fund The American SOS Project’s work to defeat these Trump-aligned candidates in November. I can’t do this without you:

If you’ve read to the bottom of this email, I salute you -- this is a lot to take in, and the only way we can truly win the battle is to keep our eyes open and face reality.

Thank you. More soon.
