Last night, the first public hearing of the January 6th special committee was held in prime time, and carried on every network but Fox News. It was gripping and infuriating in equal measures, as it made clear how much Trump’s actions dictated the violence at the Capitol, and how little has been done to hold the people in power accountable over the last 18 months.

This hearing was just the beginning―but not every hearing will necessarily receive the same coverage. It’s important to demand that the broadcast networks that broadcast on our airwaves with our consent air the full hearings every single time.

Our Social Security system exists within a society. Trump’s attempt to end America’s constitutional government after he lost the election would jeopardize our Social Security system along with our society as a whole.

If Republicans face no consequence for attempting to steal this election, then go on to successfully steal the next election―using Trump’s gameplan to mix voter suppression with election subversion, they’ll be utterly unmoored from the popular revolts that prevented George W. Bush from privatizing Social Security, Paul Ryan from ending Medicare as we know it, and Donald Trump from defunding them both. That’s why this is so important.
