Ruth’s List Florida is excited to announce our most recent school board endorsements in the following races: 

Kristine Kraus for Seminole County School Board, District 1 

Elizabeth Andersen for Duval County School Board, District 2 

Damaris Allen for Hillsborough County School Board, District 2 

Sarah Fortney for Polk County School Board, District 3 

Kristine Kraus, a Ruth’s List alumna and the only countywide elected Democrat in Seminole, is running for re-election after winning this seat in 2018 in the wake of the Parkland shooting. She is a devoted advocate for students, families, and teachers and is passionate about creating the best possible school environment.

Elizabeth Andersen is a first-term incumbent and former Duval County Public Schools educator, who understands the challenges facing parents, students and teachers in Duval County. She specializes in counseling teens and parents in her private mental health practice, Foundations Therapy Jax.

Damaris Allen is an award-winning PTA leader who is highly attuned to the needs of students and families in Hillsborough County and is running to flip this seat from red to blue. She founded the non-profit Florida Collaboration Project Foundation, dedicated to helping public schools allocate resources and obtain funds to balance budgets.

Sarah Fortney is running for re-election after being the first openly LGBTQ+ person elected to a school board in Florida. She is an experienced teacher, mentor, and community leader, dedicated to serving the community she has called home for more than 30 years.
