ANNOUNCEMENT

New Partnership between IPA and Government of Togo

IPA's Executive Director Annie Duflo and Francophone West Africa Director Andreas Holzinger met with the President of Togo, Faure Gnassingbé, recently. The meeting was followed by the announcement of a Memorandum of Understanding between IPA and the National Identification Agency, formalizing partnerships begun during the pandemic to work together on using and improving data systems for social programs.

NEW STUDY

Text Messages as a Tool for Supporting Remote Education

A man wearing glasses sitting with a child using a laptop together.Sending a text message to parents with suggested basic numeracy and literacy activities had an impact on the cognitive skills of preschool students during remote learning due to COVID-19. This intervention generates 0.01 increases (in standard deviation units) on a learning index for every 80 US cents spent, making it one of the most cost-effective interventions to improve early numeracy skills in Latin America.
