IPA's Executive Director Annie Duflo and Francophone West Africa Director Andreas Holzinger met with the President of Togo, Faure Gnassingbé, recently. The meeting was followed by the announcement of a Memorandum of Understanding between IPA and the National Identification Agency, formalizing partnerships begun during the pandemic to work together on using and improving data systems for social programs.

Sending a text message to parents with suggested basic numeracy and literacy activities had an impact on the cognitive skills of preschool students during remote learning due to COVID-19. This intervention generates 0.01 increases (in standard deviation units) on a learning index for every 80 US cents
spent, making it one of the most cost-effective interventions to improve early numeracy skills in Latin America.
