John,
Yesterday, the Trump administration announced an unprecedented expansion [[link removed]] of who may be targeted for fast-track deportations throughout the United States.
The process, known as “ expedited removal [[link removed]] ,” would allow an immigration official to arrest, detain, and order deported anyone who cannot quickly prove that they have been in the United States for two years or more.
This official gets to be both prosecutor and judge. No chance to talk to a lawyer. No opportunity for review by an immigration judge. It is a mockery of justice.
We will not stay quiet while this new policy takes effect. We will sue to stop this expansion of unchecked authority in its tracks.
To support our litigation, please donate [[link removed]] .
Until a court steps in, we will be vigilant through our Immigration Justice Campaign partners on the ground to watch for people being impacted by this draconian policy.
Sincerely,
