This is some concerning news about climate change John.
A recent report by the Stockholm International Peace Institute paints a grim picture of global climate change and the lack of any concerted government efforts to do anything about it.
If climate change continues, it will cause a domino effect in every part of the world. Increased temperatures mean fewer places where people can live, which causes more migration, which then often leads to conflict, the report claims.
Higher temperatures and rising water levels also mean less arable land, creating fewer food sources. This food insecurity and migration patterns are, traditionally, drivers of conflict.
This report is not meant to send readers into despair but to wake politicians to the cold facts. Climate change will cause consequences on our peace and security, and it is time for policymaking.
We cannot waste more time debating the realities of climate change, John. We need Suzan in Congress to keep fighting for our climate and finally pass the legislation our planet needs. Can you help her out by chipping in whatever you can?
It's not over yet. We can find a human solution for a human problem.
As the report says: "Humanity has the knowledge and skills to escape from the trouble in which we find ourselves." We need to come together and invest in resilience, peace, and security to stop future crises.
Our environment is crucial for our district. We need to be able to protect our beautiful forests, mountains, and waterways. We have some of the most fertile agricultural lands at stake too.
