Friend,

This legislative session has been tremendously successful. While there is always more work to do, I couldn’t be more proud of all we’ve accomplished so far and I wanted to share some highlights.

This list is quite long, but I hope you’ll take a look to see what your support has helped us accomplish this session:

We fought for workers’ rights.

  • We passed the Freelance isn’t Free Act in both houses and are now waiting for the Governor to sign it.
  • We made it easier for 9/11 first responders and their families to get benefits.

We fought against harassment.

  • The Governor signed my bills banning retaliatory releases of personnel records, closing the personal staff loophole, and granting employees access to their personnel records into law.
  • We also passed the Adult Survivors Act, which the Governor has signed into law.
  • And, the Senate passed my bill which would extend the statute of limitations for harassment in the workplace to six years.

We fought for CUNY.

  • We won a budget that allocates over $200 million for funding CUNY’s operating costs and $1 billion in capital funding.
  • We ended a decade of disinvestment in New York’s public higher education by making the single largest investment in CUNY in a decade.
  • With these crucial funds we can hire hundreds more full-time faculty members, begin to repair buildings that are falling apart, and increase the number of academic advisors and mental health counselors available to our students.

We fought for street safety.

  • We won an expansion of speed cameras to be 24/7 through 2025.
  • We passed my bill to expand the DMV’s curriculum on how drivers can more safely share the roads with pedestrians and cyclists.

We fought against rising living costs.

  • We fought for a budget to bring relief to middle and working class New Yorkers, including successfully accelerating middle-class tax cuts from Tax Year 2025 to 2023, saving families $162 million in Fiscal Year 2023 and $615 million in Fiscal Year 2024. Approximately 80% of our district here in southern Brooklyn will benefit from these tax breaks.

We fought against runaway hospital costs.

  • We passed the HEAL Act.
  • Accessible, affordable, high-quality healthcare is a human right, and no New Yorker should be unable to receive the healthcare they need because of exorbitant costs. The HEAL Act will expand access to affordable and high-quality healthcare for New Yorkers all across the state, and make a meaningful difference in New Yorkers’ financial and physical wellbeing.

We fought against gun violence.

  • We strengthened gun laws that the Governor has since signed into law.
  • We tightened red-flag laws.
  • We raised purchasing age of semiautomatic rifles from 18 to 21.
  • We now require microstamping of firearms, making them easier to trace.

I’m ready to continue this important work, but in order to do that, I’m going to need your support now more than ever — especially since we have a primary opponent officially in the race.

If you’re able, could you please chip in $5, $10 or $15 today to help us push to the end and win this primary race? Nothing is guaranteed, and we can’t take anything for granted. But with your help, we have a strong chance of keeping our seat and continuing our path to a better New York.

Because of your support, we have made massive progress towards a more fair and affordable New York, and with your continued support, there is only more progress to come.

Thank you.

In Service,

Andrew
