Hi Team,
This has been a busy week for us at Team King Siri HQ! Our campaign was just endorsed by Sierra Club Maryland, one of the most influential grassroots environmental action organizations in the country!
This endorsement shows the rest of the state what we already know: John King and Michelle Siri are the environmental ticket in this race.
That's not all — this week also included the first televised gubernatorial debate, the Annapolis Pride parade, the LG forum, events around the state, and more! Keep scrolling to read more about this week and find out what we're up to next. Thank you for your continued support!

MARYLAND MATTERS: Political Notes: Sierra Club Backs King
"But it often seems as if John King, the former Obama administration Education secretary, has the most steadfast, comprehensive and integrated proposals to confront climate change... Now, King is reaping the rewards: On Thursday, the political arm of the Sierra Club’s Maryland chapter announced it was endorsing King in the July 19 primary." |
WYPR: Tensions flare at televised Democratic Gubernatorial debate
"Deborah Weiner, an anchor and reporter with WBAL, asked each of the eight candidates to characterize their own integrity. John King spoke of his role as former President Barack Obama’s Secretary of Education in cracking down on for-profit colleges that targeted vulnerable students; like American Military University that Wes Moore was associated with. “If we're serious about public education,' King said, 'then we have to live those values.' "

Washington Post: Md. Democrats jab, offer broad visions in lone governor’s race debate
"King, who emphasized his role in education, said the state’s sweeping education plan 'should be the floor, not the ceiling,' and was the only candidate who did not endorse a holiday from the state’s gas tax, saying the state should invest in reducing dependence on oil: 'We need to act like climate change is the existential threat that it is,' he said." |
