With the Jan. 6 hearings underway, I wanted to reach out personally and share with you the importance of accountability and protecting our most sacred democratic principles.

January 6th will forever be a dark stain on this nation’s history. Some lost their lives, many were put in danger, and the future of our democracy was placed in jeopardy. I am grateful to the Capitol Police for their heroic actions—it is because of their fearless sacrifices that our democracy is still standing today.

As the hearings continue, we must ensure accountability for those who actively undermined our democracy—no matter if they’re former Presidents or members of Congress. We will not back down until justice is served. I stand beside the January 6th Committee in their fight to hold those who incited and participated in the riot accountable.

Since the insurrection, I have been proud to stand alongside my Democratic colleagues in urgent calls to honor the brave Capitol Police who protected us, and to protect our democracy.

Today and every day, we must advocate for accountability.
