In July, a federal court will hear oral arguments regarding a decision made by an anti-immigrant Texas judge last summer declaring DACA illegal.
This is exactly why we have stressed the need for permanent protections despite all the temporary benefits DACA provides to immigrant youth. And this is exactly why we’re trying to raise $10,000 for the 10th anniversary to fuel our advocacy work demanding more than just band-aid solutions.

Last July, Judge Hanen in Texas struck down the DACA program in a decision that blocked the government from approving new requests, but protected current program recipients — for now.
Our organization immediately went on the offense to support DACA recipients, making sure they knew their rights, challenging the anti-immigrant decision, and demanding our elected officials do better than band-aid solutions like DACA.
Now, nearly a year later, our fight is headed back to the courts. That’s the story of DACA, ever since its inception — immigrant youth and allies responding to unrelenting attacks and fighting for our livelihoods.
We don’t know what the future holds for the program that has been a lifeline for so many undocumented people, but that won’t stop us for demanding more from the elected officials who promised to protect immigrant communities.
