In case you missed it, Fair Fight Action took Georgia’s Secretary of State and the State Elections Board to court over their policies and procedures that unfairly burden Georgians.
The Fair Fight Action v. Raffensperger case challenges the gross mismanagement witnessed in the 2018 election and the years that followed by fighting against policy choices and procedures that discourage and disenfranchise countless Georgia voters.
Although our trial continues, we have already seen progress as a result of filing our suit — including the significant achievement when 22,000 Georgians were restored to the voting rolls instead of being purged from the active voter list.
We cannot do this critical work without your grassroots support. Will you please pitch in $20 or anything you can to ensure that we can continue to challenge election systems that violate the rights of voters?
From the beginning of the case, one of our primary goals has been ensuring Georgia voters are able to finally have their day in court. And they have. More than two dozen Georgia voters, would-be voters, poll watchers, and community leaders have testified during the trial about their commitment to voting and the barriers they faced in the registration process, trying to cast a ballot, and trying to get their ballot counted.
Throughout the trial, Fair Fight Action has asked the Court to adopt remedies that will reduce the burdens Georgia voters experience trying to register and vote, including:
- Ending Georgia’s “Exact Match” registration policy that places eligible voters, disproportionately voters of color, in a different status than other active voters;
- Requiring a citizenship check process that allows eligible U.S. citizens to register to vote without wrongly excluding new Americans and people of color;
- Ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of the state’s training on the procedures for canceling absentee ballots to allow a voter to vote in person; and
- Ensuring efficient, just, and fair elections across Georgia.
This lawsuit, while focused on transforming the elections system in Georgia to support all eligible voters and comply with federal law, is one that Fair Fight Action believes will set precedent and further pave the way for free and fair elections nationwide. When our right to vote is imperiled in any state, all Americans are threatened.
Please make a contribution of $20 to ensure Fair Fight Action can continue to challenge efforts to suppress the vote and stifle the will of voters.
Your support during this historic moment means so much.
Thank you,
The Fair Fight Action Team
