John,

When President John F. Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act on this date back in 1963, it would've been difficult to imagine we'd be fighting the same fight in 2022.

But the reality is we're still fighting to ensure women receive equal pay for equal work.

Kansas women make just 78 cents for every dollar made by men. In rural areas, that number drops to just 51 cents. That means Kansas women -- and their families -- are being robbed of thousands of dollars that they could use to feed their children, buy a home, go to school, or start a new business in their communities.

It's long past time for Congress to act, and for Kansas politicians who've obstructed federal action to do their jobs.

It's time for change. Will you add your name and join me in demanding action to close the gender pay gap?

Until Kansas women finally achieve pay equity, I will keep fighting. I hope you will too.

Thank you,

Laura
