Pride Month is a time to celebrate the simple joy of being ourselves. It’s a time to embrace and appreciate the diverse range of experiences people have with sexuality and gender.

However, it’s also a reminder that this affirming message is too often drowned out with hateful rhetoric — and that there’s more work to be done, especially to protect LGBTQ+ youth.

Last month, a survey found that an unfathomable 45% of American LGBTQ+ youth seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year. This is a staggering number and one we must do everything we can to lower.

Another crucial finding of this survey is how much of a difference support and acceptance make. We need to help our LGBTQ+ youth feel seen and accepted because we know the danger of the alternative.

This Pride Month, I’m asking you to join me in supporting the Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people. Their work is vital and needs our support. [[link removed]]
