When he was on the campaign trail, presidential candidate Joe Biden made a climate promise to end new oil and gas leasing on public lands and waters. 

Now it’s time for President Biden to walk the talk.

The federal leasing program sells rights to drill, frack, pump and mine on public lands and waters. It locks us into decades of dirty, climate-destroying fossil fuel production — right when we need to stop new extraction to avoid the worst effects of climate change. 

Despite his campaign promise, Biden has yet to end new leasing. In fact, last year he actually approved more drilling permits than Trump. And before the end of the month, his administration will auction off another 144,000 acres of public lands across the West. 

Tell Biden you’re counting on him to secure our climate future by cancelling this month’s lease sales and finally delivering on his promise to end all new fossil fuel leasing on public lands.
