There is so much more to be done in the fight for equality.
Hi John, it’s John + Gisele!
From our whole family to yours: Happy Pride Month! 🌈 ✨
Pride is a preeeeetty huge deal to our campaign.
Back in 2013, when I was still the Mayor of Braddock, Pennsylvania was the *only* state in the Northeastern United States that banned same-sex marriage.
We were not going to stand on the wrong side of history, John. Which is why I was proud to be the first elected official in western PA to officiate a same-sex wedding.
After 11 years of commitment to each other, right there in our living room, surrounded by friends + family, I officiated the wedding of John Kandry + Bill Gray. ❤️ It was one of the proudest moments of my career — and I promised I would keep marrying these couples until the law changed. (After all, John + I were able to get married 14 years ago *today* without having to wait even close to 11 years! —G)
But there is so much more to be done in the fight for equality, John.
The fact must change that, in 2022, it's still perfectly legal in many instances to discriminate against the LGBTQIA+ community in PA. The fact must change that our leaders haven't had the courage to pass the Equality Act into law, ensuring rights and protections for LGBTQIA+ folks across our country. And the fact must change that someone can be fired from their job, refused care at a hospital or denied housing because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. It's ludicrous.
We must *never* stop pushing for equal protection under the law for every American — and if elected to the Senate, I pledge to you that I will always fight boldly, relentlessly, and proudly for LGBTQIA+ rights and freedoms.
If you agree that expanding rights and protections for LGBTQIA+ Americans is a no-brainer, then I'm respectfully asking you to make an important impact on our big, inclusive, and PROUD campaign by making your first donation today.

Thank you so much, John.
One more time from our entire family + campaign: Happy Pride! 🌈
