Team, what can I say: this week TX-23 has once again been abandoned by Rep. Tony Gonzales.

Gonzales makes a big show of being “pro-life” but yesterday, he voted against HR 7910, the Protecting Our Kids Bill — a bill that would raise the minimum purchasing age for semi-automatic rifles from 18 to 21, bar large-capacity magazines, incentivize safe firearm storage and more.

Not only did he vote against the bill, he actually bragged about it.

Texas is still reeling from the Uvalde shooting and murders of 21 elementary school students and teachers by an 18 year old shooter with two AR-15- style weapons and over 1,500 rounds of ammunition. Yet Gonzales continues to say “no” to common sense gun safety measures that are supported by the majority of Texans and Americans.

It’s votes like this that prove that Tony Gonzales is unqualified to be a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and the voice of Texas families.

Can you make a donation right now to power our fight to kick Tony Gonzales out of office so I can get to Washington and actually do the work of protecting the kids and families in our district, Texas, and beyond?

Team, I am not surprised — Tony Gonzales and other corrupt, hypocritical GOP politicians have sold their votes to gun lobbyists.

The lives of those that have been gunned down and murdered by mass shooters in Uvalde and El Paso mean nothing to him.

He will continue to vote “no” on gun reform as long as the money keeps coming in.
Texans deserve a representative who will bring real leadership to Congress. Someone who will fight to protect, support, and represent our families, not line their pockets with NRA money.

I’m ready to get to Washington and get things done. I’m ready to vote yes on bills like HR 7910 and fight for sensible gun reforms — universal background checks, Red Flag laws, and responsible gun ownership through mandatory training and licensing to keep firearms out of the hands of those who aim to do harm.

Make a donation right now to help power this campaign so I can get to Congress and do what Gonzales won’t — fight for the people of TX-23.

Let’s get to work,
John Lira
