Across the country, we are seeing “pro-life” Republicans switching parties to run as Democrats. This is happening in countless races from California to Florida, and we want to talk about what it means for the future of Democratic issues.

For example: Nikki Fried could make history as the first female governor of Florida - but she first needs to defeat “pro-life” “Democrat” Charlie Crist in the primary. As the only woman and only pro-choice candidate in her race, Nikki will need all the help she can get. Can you help ensure she has everything she needs to defeat Crist by pitching in $25 to our Primary Fund today?

Hi there,

On Tuesday, an incredibly tight race for Los Angeles’ Mayor determined the top two Democratic candidates, Rick Caruso and Karen Bass, are heading to a runoff.

Caruso, a billionaire real estate developer who, until recently, identified as a Republican, spent nearly $41 million on his mayoral campaign – 12 TIMES the amount that Karen Bass has spent.

Rick Caruso is a LIFELONG Republican who has donated millions of dollars to anti-abortion candidates and causes.

In a race with similar dynamics 4 time zones away, our candidate Nikki Fried is running to replace Ron DeSantis. (As we know, DeSantis is the face of toxic Republican extremism, and it’s time to end his reign in Florida.)

But before Nikki can defeat Gov. DeSantis, she must make it through her primary election in August against Charlie Crist who started his career as – you guessed it – a Republican. Despite switching parties, Crist’s stances seem to reflect a Republican agenda:

According to Politico, in 2010, during his unsuccessful bid for U.S. Senate, Crist said he would fight to advance “pro-life legislative efforts.” When recently asked what has changed, his response was “nothing.”

With Roe v. Wade hanging by a thread, we cannot afford to elect anti-choice “Democrats.” Will you help us elect pro-choice champions by contributing $25 to our Primary Fund today?

Both of these races illustrate a disturbing trend we’ve been seeing play out across the country: formerly Republican, anti-choice candidates are disguising themselves as Democrats to win power. We cannot allow these “pro-life” “Democratic” men to enter the rooms where VITAL decisions about our rights are being made. Especially when Roe v. Wade is moments away from being overturned – we’re depending on ALL elected Democrats to fight back.

An article that Politico wrote about Nikki Fried’s campaign noted: “If she had the money for a sustained television campaign, Fried could take the clip of his latest answer and hammer him between now and August.” This is where you come in.

We are just two months away from Nikki’s primary election, and she needs your help to beat Rep. Crist on the road to November. We cannot afford to elect any more “pro-life” “Democrats” into power. Help us elect pro-choice women across the nation by contributing $25 to our Primary Fund today!
