At Its 10th Anniversary, DACA Faces a Tenuous Future Despite Societal Benefits

On June 15, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program will hit its 10th anniversary. In our new U.S. Policy Beat article, Migration Policy Institute (MPI) Senior Fellow Muzaffar Chishti and Senior Policy Analyst Julia Gelatt review the evidence on DACA's impacts for Dreamers, their families, and the broader society. They also look at the growing reliance on similar limited legal statuses to help segments of the unauthorized immigrant population, and examine the legal challenges DACA has and is continuing to face.
