Team,

Fifty-two years ago this month, the first Pride march was held to commemorate the Stonewall riots in New York City the year prior. Now, every June we celebrate LGBTQ+ Americans and recommit ourselves to the fight for equality.

I was proud to serve as the treasurer for the successful campaign for marriage equality in Rhode Island in 2013. But I know that Republicans in Congress are continuing their fight to undermine rights for LGBTQ+ Americans.

While I joined the fight for equality, my Republican opponent, Allan Fung, opposed marriage equality for same-sex couples. If we're going to continue to make progress for LGBTQ+ Americans, we can't afford to elect Allan Fung to Congress.

We've made progress in the decades since the Stonewall riots in 1969, but we still have a long way to go for true equality in our country. Dozens of states still don't have laws protecting the LGBTQ+ community from discrimination. And we've seen a rise in anti-transgender legislation being introduced in state legislatures across the country – including here in Rhode Island.

In Congress, I'll support legislation that protects the rights of all LGBTQ+ people and work to ensure that all Americans – regardless of who they love or how they identify – are given the same rights and protections.

This Pride Month, add your name to join me in recommitting to the fight for LGBTQ+ equality.
