At Ruth’s List, Pride is not just a month — it’s year-round. Their work to support and elect Democratic pro-choice women leaders is critical to ensuring equality in Florida.

Under the DeSantis Administration, equality in Florida is under constant attack. This past legislative session, Republicans passed bills that stigmatize and silence LGBTQ+ youth and ban books that even make reference to LGBTQ+ people. If that wasn’t disgraceful enough, DeSantis recently called on a state medical board to ban transgender youth and Medicaid recipients from receiving gender affirming care.

When I was appointed Florida’s first LGBTQ+ Consumer Advocate, I made it a top priority to combat discrimination and advance the rights of LGBTQ+ Floridians. I am continuing that work with the Human Rights Campaign, where I fight for LGBTQ+ equality every day.

I joined the board of Ruth’s List because they’re committed to electing Democratic leaders who will fight for our rights, and they understand that reproductive freedom and LGBTQ+ equality are deeply intertwined. This Pride Month, let’s pledge to do more to resist ALL attacks on our freedoms and advance equality.

The DeSantis administration has made it crystal clear they don’t believe all Floridians should have equal access to healthcare – especially reproductive healthcare. By passing an extreme abortion ban and limiting medical access for transgender Floridians, they’ve launched an all-out attack on our freedom to make our own healthcare decisions.
