Dear Friend of CDT,
I’m excited to share with you the CDT Annual Report for 2021. It was a year of new beginnings, as a new Administration and Congress took office in the United States and European leaders embarked on an ambitious tech policy agenda.
It was, and continues to be, a pivotal time for democracy, as policymakers and companies grapple with hard questions about online mis- and disinformation, hate speech and harassment; ways to strengthen election integrity and public trust; and the importance of data privacy protections and the responsible governance of AI. At CDT, we’ve doubled down on our efforts to address these questions and more, advancing a tech policy agenda focused on equity and democratic values.
As you know, there’s urgent work to be done. I’m proud to continue CDT’s work to find meaningful solutions to complex tech policy challenges by bringing together policymakers, civil society advocates, technologists, company decision-makers, and affected communities.
I’m immensely grateful to CDT’s Board, staff, Advisory Council, Fellows, donors, and partners who make all of our work possible, and to all of you for being so engaged in our work.
With gratitude,
Alexandra Reeve Givens
