Is the Future of Conservatism Nonreligious?

You don’t need to navigate the NYT paywall to answer that question. Nate Hochman joined TAC’s Right Now podcast to discuss the changing face of conservatism today.

The influence of the Religious Right is almost certainly on the wane in a post-Obergefell, post-Trump America.

But that might not be entirely bad, Hochman argues. New alliances are making serious headway against radical progressivism. Just look at CRT.

Rich Lowry
offers some caveats in response. He’s not so sure the new conservatism is entirely different from the old . . . or any more successful.

Read (and listen!) for yourself—and see what you think about Hochman’s
responses to concerns about this more secular conservatism.

Any conservatism which abandons its religious foundation is doomed to failure.

So argues Bradford Littlejohn in the American Reformer.

Politics is just as religious as ever today, he suggests—but it’s a cynical and materialist religiosity.

And the fact of the matter is that any self-governing society must cultivate virtue.

Rulers who are indifferent to the soul are little more than swineherds fattening the hogs.

Hence conservatives
must revive the spiritual dimension of politics vs. the great Awokening.

Littlejohn maintains that the Protestant tradition offers rich resources for making a natural law argument for this spiritual dimension.

He shows you how—starting with two Reformation-era political thinkers you might not (yet) know . . .

4 Myths About the Crusades

If you ever learned about the Crusades in school, you probably learned that they were evil.
