No matter which political party is in control, it seems the American Dream slips further and further out of reach.
People at the top make more money than we will in a hundred lifetimes. Meanwhile, we are told that we only have ourselves to blame if we fail to provide for our families — that if we allow major corporations and wealthy shareholders to exploit us, it is our fault alone. We must ask ourselves: what chance does one person have against the forces of such immense wealth?
For many, it feels like the fight for change is a hill that is too steep to climb. John, there’s a reason that corporate America and members of the wealthy elite spend millions of dollars to influence and corrupt our politics. They know if they stopped mobilizing their resources, they may lose their grip on our government.
The lesson isn’t to give up. It’s to understand we have one hell of a hill to climb — but it’s a hill we can climb. Otherwise, they would not be working so hard to stop us.
