We’re already six months into the election year, friend – and the work we do here at Groundwork is not slowing down. As we head into Pride and Immigrant Heritage month, I wanted to be sure you had the rundown on the work we are pushing in our partner states. We won’t let anything distract us from our mission: uplifting and sending resources to hyperlocal organizations working with their communities to make lasting political change.
Our team of grantees and partner states are heading into a strenuous summer and we want to make sure they have what they need to support overlooked communities in Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma and West Virginia. Friend, can we count on you to give $25 so we can keep our support headed their way?

News You Should Know
With the Supreme Court’s decision on Roe v. Wade up in the air, countless abortion clinics across the nation are left in limbo, including in Groundwork Project’s partner state, Oklahoma. Just last month, the state legislature and governor officially passed one of the most restrictive bans on safe abortion care in the nation. Soon pregnant people in Oklahoma (and surrounding states) will no longer be able to seek legal care beginning after ‘fertilization’ and private citizens of the state will be free to ‘enforce’ the law through civil litigation.

Mississippi had their primary elections yesterday! But officials in the state have been powerful in suppressing votes with one tactic in particular – Mississippi state officials have changed polling locations 70 times since 2020. In an attempt to confuse and undermine voters, this Republican-led legislature made sure to put up more obstacles and does not even provide an up-to-date, comprehensive list or database of voting precincts to the public.
