Tasting water ice. Leaving a concert. Enjoying the fresh air. Socializing with friends. 

These are the activities that innocent Philadelphians were embarking upon when dozens of bullets fired through South Street. As we’re learning as details are investigated, one of the four shooters in this mass shooting event was an eighteen-year old with a ghost gun.

We’ve talked to you before about ghost guns. They’re highly unregulated. They can be assembled in hours by a purchaser, don’t get a background check, and have no serial number. We worked tirelessly and President Biden and the ATF took action, requiring a background check for every ghost gun and a serial number for every gun. 

The massacre on South Street shows us we must go further. We need a ban on ghost guns in Pennsylvania now.

The bloodshed in our communities flows every day, and we have to become more aggressive with the policy solutions we advance. We must hold accountable those who profit from this bloodshed. We need a ban on ghost guns, and those manufacturers should be held accountable for enabling this destruction across our Commonwealth every weekend for as long as we all can remember.
