John, I’m excited to share that Maine’s Climate Council and Gov. Mills have organized the State of Maine’s very FIRST conference dedicated to discussing progress and opportunities for climate action in communities all across the Pine Tree State.
The Communities Leading on Climate conference will be held on Friday, June 17 from 8:30 AM – 4 PM at the Augusta Civic Center. There are both in-person and virtual participation options. You can find more details about the conference here.
A handful of MCV staff and board members will be there and we hope you will join us for this opportunity to recognize the incredible climate action initiatives that dozens of Maine communities are already pursuing and learn more about ways that your hometown can join these efforts to reduce emissions and prepare for sea-level rise, unpredictable flooding events, heat waves, and more. The fabulous Gina McCarthy – the nation’s first ever White House National Climate Advisor and chair of President Biden’s National Climate Task Force – will deliver the keynote address!

We cannot wait to learn from hands-on workshops and seminars, and break bread with you and Maine’s climate action leaders as we challenge our communities to seek resources and tools to build a healthier future for our friends and families.
