In-Person Events in Historic Philadelphia:
From star-spangled banners to five-star generals, Philadelphia’s historic district celebrates the shared birthday of two of our country’s greatest institutions—the American flag and the U.S. Army. Events across Old City Philadelphia include flag raising ceremonies, a patriotic parade, and more. Most events will be outdoors and free to the public; no reservations are required. Learn more

Juneteenth
Sunday, June 19
Visitors can commemorate the end of slavery in America with special tours of the Center’s exhibit, Civil War and Reconstruction: The Battle for Freedom and Equality, the first exhibit in America devoted to exploring how constitutional clashes over slavery set the stage for the Civil War, and how the nation transformed the Constitution after the war to more fully embrace the Declaration of Independence’s promise of liberty and equality. Additional programs highlight figures from the Reconstruction era like Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, and more.
