June is Pride Month and a reminder to all of us that equality matters and that everyone deserves a community in which they can be who they are and love who they love.

We all know that even though we have made incredible strides towards protections for the LGBTQ+ community, we have much more work to do. 

Each day we see more hateful attacks on Michiganders’ rights to be who they are, love who they love, express and celebrate ourselves and pursue the opportunities of our dreams without discrimination. And we are fighting back against hate.

We are fighting back by supporting the expansion of Michigan’s Elliott-Larson Civil Rights Act to include protections for individuals based on sexual orientation and gender identity. 

We are fighting back against recent anti-trans legislation that targets transgender children who play sports and against harmful rhetoric targeting drag events.

And we are fighting back by working to elect more public servants to the Michigan Senate and Michigan House who will respect the humanity of LGBTQ+ Michiganders. But we need your help!

Will you join us today in supporting our efforts to elect other candidates who share our values?

We need to flip the Michigan State Senate and Michigan State House in order to make sure all people can go to school and work and pursue housing without discrimination.

The LGBTQ+ community is counting on all of us to stand with them in this important moment, and I am proud to be an ally.
