Friend,
Following multiple mass shootings, students in my district have come out to hold vigils and urge action to pass gun laws that can save lives.
Yesterday in my district, one of the student organizers of a march asked: "Are we going to wait until our names are called as a victim of gun violence rather than at our graduation?"
Today in Congress, I am hearing testimony from some of the survivors and families of the Uvalde and Buffalo massacres.
Our young people and families are demanding that we act to keep them safe in schools, in businesses, and our homes. They deserve swift action and solutions to gun violence, from banning assault weapons to keeping guns from high-risk people.
Please sign now to tell the Senate: Save lives by passing popular gun safety laws, including “red flag” laws that would allow courts to temporarily remove firearm access from people who are dangers to themselves or others.
In many instances of gun violence, family members or law enforcement see warning signs.
Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPOs) laws, commonly known as "red flag laws", save lives by allowing courts to temporarily remove access to firearms from people who are dangers to themselves or others.
States that have passed ERPO laws have already proven that they work, disarming those who threatened mass shootings at schools and workplaces.
These laws are among a multitude of gun safety policies that are popular among Democratic and Republican voters. We also need to ban assault weapons like AR-15s. When we had a federal ban in the U.S., it drastically reduced gun deaths. Other ways to keep guns from high-risk people include safer gun storage and requiring background checks for each gun sale.
I promise to keep pushing for these solutions to gun violence. My other colleagues in Congress also need to hear from you.
Tell the Senate: Save lives. Pass federal gun safety policies such as "red flag" laws!
Thank you. We’re in this together.
